INGLOT: Duraline

Hello beauty lovers😁😁😁

Today I will be reviewing a product I think every beauty lover should have in their makeup bag and that is the INGLOT DURALINE

I almost gave up on gel liners😐 I was this close to throwing all of them away but when I think of how much I bought them, I just dumped them somewhere in my makeup bag😏

Then guess what 😬😬😬 I found INGLOT DURALINE. This product is bae I mean where have you been all my life…lol

This product brought back my dead gel liner back to life and it will be so unfair if I kept this away from you my beauty lovers

It comes in a 9ml transparent glass bottle with a black dropper as the cap. The dropper is meant to help you control the amount of product been dispensed but I found myself still dispensing more product than I need ( I guess with time I will find my way around it)

It is neatly packed in a white pack.

CLAIMS: Waterless clear liquid that can intensify the color of any powder and transform it into an easy to apply, water resistant liquid.

It looks like water but it is thicker and feels quiet slippery

My main purpose of getting this product was to help revive my dead gel liners but then I realised I could use this products for much more💃💃💃 isn’t  that awesome.

A drop of Duraline mixed with any makeup product of your choice:

  1. creates a liquid waterproof product
  2. improves application
  3. prolongs life of makeup
  4. enhances colours

To be honest with you guys I only use this product for my gel liner but I mean do not hesitate to try this with other products

Here is a picture of what I did with my dry gel liner using Duraline

I applied about 6 drops to my eyeliner here and I mixed it using a little stick and here is what we have:

A nice creamy consistency

I think this product is a must have and I will rate it 5/5. You can thank me later

Beginners: what should be in your makeup purse?

Good Morning guys!!! How was your night? Splendid I guess😉

From the title of today’s post, I am sure you already know what the post is going to be about. I constantly get questions from people literally every single day asking what makeup product to buy, what and what do I need to do my makeup right and so on.

So I thought showing you what I have in my makeup purse would help. If you know me personally, my everyday makeup is simple and clean. Everything I have in my make up purse is probably all you would be needing as you begin your makeup journey.

First of all, I would advice you get yourself a makeup purse/bag( like mine in the picture above) where you can store all your makeup products. Secondly, I advice you invest in good makeup products not necessarily the most expensive makeup products.

As beginners, there is no harm trying out different products just to find that perfect one that works for you and when you find it stick to it and also before buying products especially foundation and powder, know your skin type.

I have chosen my favourite makeup products to show you my beauty queens but please have in mind that what works for me doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. Please take your time and find out the best product for your skin.

Here is a list of all you would be needing:

  1. Makeup purse
  2. Powder
  3. Foundation
  4. Concealer
  5. Blush
  6. Mascara wand
  7. Concealer brush
  8. Brow Pencil
  9. Foundation brush
  10. Powder brush
  11. Blush brush
  12.  Lip balm/gloss
  13. Lipstick
  14. Liquid liner
  15. Black pencil
  16. Face Primer

Powder x Foundation x Blush x Concealer

Lip balm x Lipstick x Mascara x Black liner

Mascara wand x Concealer brush x Brow Pencil

Here are pictures I took with my phone on a regular work day for me using all the products I have listed above ( no contour, no highlight):

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

IMG_2344Welcome back to my blog beauty lovers

We all know that the liquid lip-stains/lipsticks are in at the moment and almost all the makeup brands have their own version and today I would be reviewing the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

I am really surprised that MAC is like the last major brand to release their own lipcolour and also I know I am the last makeup blogger to review this product. I actually got this product a while ago and this review is long over due( honestly didn’t want to review it any longer) but then I realised that a lot of people don’t even know about them and so I decided to do a review on them.

The MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour comes in about 15 lovely shades and I picked up 2 shades from my last visit to the MAC store. I picked up FEELS SO GRAND and TAILORED TO TEASE .

First of all, I most say I fell in love with this packaging. They look so classy.IMG_2335

The Retro Matte Liquid Lipsticks come with a top packaging similar to the regular MAC lipsticks with a transparent bottom which I thought was really cool because you can see the shade through the transparent bottom. It also comes with a diamond shaped applicator IMG_2412

It is neatly packed as seen in the picture below:

It is a very vibrant shade of red and also my favourite from my pick. This shade would complement any skin-tone.IMG_2358

Here is a picture i took with my phone

IMG_5873 2

I must say I fell in love with the name, it is also a vibrant shade of pink( would pass for fusia pink). This shade would look best on a light person however, a dark person can also get away with this shade if properly lined with a darker shade of pink.

Here is a picture I took with my phoneIMG_6104 (1)

So sorry guys I couldn’t get a clearer picture. When I first tried this product I honestly didn’t like it as much as I did with FEELS SO GRAND but I wasn’t about to give up on it (I spent a lot considering the current exchange rate situation in Nigeria) so when I tried it again I decided to fill in my lips with a darker pink lip liner I also got from MAC and I then went over it with this product and guess what I fell in love with the outcome.

The Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is a really good product but I do not see this product as a must for you my beauty lovers, I mean you can get other great dupes for less and still get the same effect.

You all know how much I love MAC but I expected more from this product, I didn’t see anything so special about it.

Below, I will list out all my overall judgement.

Here we go:

  1. I love the applicator it came with, they have this diamond shape which allows you to apply the product properly to the corners of your lip. I find that really cool and thoughtful
  2. It applies really smooth and with one or two layers you are good to go which means your product would last long.
  3. It feels really light when applied and dries about 10-15 seconds after application. Haven’t said that, for MAC I wasn’t too impressed with how long it stayed on for. After a while, I found myself reapplying this product to the centre of my lips and trust me it didn’t look as nice as when I first applied it.
  4. The consistency of this product is also very good.
  5. This product is also pigmented.

Any MAC store or MAC retailer around you.

With the current exchange rate situation in Nigeria price should be between N8000-N11000

Brushes: make-up essentials

Welcome back beauty lovers!!!

Today, we are going to be talking about makeup essential brushes to achieve that perfect makeup look.

I constantly get a lot of questions from people asking about what brush to use, what brush this/that is used for and so on.

I thought it would be nice to give a review on the new brushes I got recently and also tell you what each one of them is used for.

I picked up the Bh Cosmetics 18 piece studio brush set with a leather tool belt from Jumia and I must say I fell in love with every single one of them when my package arrived. It came neatly packed with each brush wrapped.

They are really soft and I also like the fact that I can wear it around my waist.

BIG POWDER BRUSHIMG_2047This brush can be used to apply compact or loose powder  all over your face to give you that professional finish look

SMALL POWDER BRUSHIMG_2048.jpgThis brush is also used to apply loose or compact powder on your face but unlike the big powder brush, this brush helps you to get to those small areas the big powder brush can’t get to.

FOUNDATION BRUSHIMG_2061This brush is used to apply foundation all over your face and it also gets to those small corners of your face.

FLAT-TOP FOUNDATION BRUSHIMG_2057This brush helps you to buff and blend foundation on your face to achieve that seamless finished look.

CONTOUR BRUSH/BLUSH BRUSHIMG_2051This brush can either be used to apply your blush on your cheeks or can be used as a contour  brush to add some definition to your face. Whichever way you decide to use this brush, stick to it. Do not use this brush for the same purpose at the same time.

IMG_2069This brush is used to blend-in eye colours in your crease for a soft blended look.

IMG_2070These brushes above can all be used to apply eyeshadow to eyelids.

CONCEALER BRUSHIMG_2073This brush can be used to apply concealer to your under eye area, spots on your face and also to areas with discolouration.

ANGLE BRUSHIMG_2087This brush can be used to fill-in your brows or can be used to highlight your brows while using a concealer.

SMALL DETAILER BRUSHIMG_2084This brush can be used to apply colours in your waterline or in your inner tear-duct.

MASCARA WAND/ SPOOLEIMG_2053This brush is used for brushing your brows before and after filling them in.

EYELINER BRUSHIMG_2062This brush is used to apply your gel liner on your eyelids.

It is very important for you to clean your brushes regularly. To clean your brushes, you can use a makeup brush cleaner and if you can’t get that, you can use a mild shampoo and warm water to wash them. Do not sun-dry after.

Foundation and eyeshadow brushes should be cleansed after each use to stop bacteria spreading and therefore keep your skin clear while other brushes such as powder and blush brush can be cleansed once a week.

You can also check any  good makeup shop to get makeup brushes.

Mac Prep + Prime Fix +

Hello guys 😉 Welcome back to my blog.

Today, I will be reviewing the Mac Prep+Prime Fix + and also share with you different ways you can use this product.

It is a lightweight water mist with a floral scent. It gently soothes and refreshes your skin and helps finish, set and revive  your makeup.

It comes in a transparent 100ml bottle with a black pump at the top which helps you to lock this product by turning it. This helps to reduce wastage.

The bottle is neatly packed in a black pack as seen below:

This product is popularly known for setting your makeup but there are so many other things you can use this product for aside that. Here are other ways to incorporate this product into your makeup routine:

  1. It works perfectly as a base for your foundation so before applying your foundation you can go ahead and apply some of this product on your face. This helps your foundation apply smoothly and also gives your foundation something to hold on to.
  2. Hydrating spray: at any point while applying your makeup, you feel your face is too caked or powdery just spray your product. This would help balance everything and give your face a dewy/glowy finish.
  3. Loose Pigments: you can apply this product on your brush before applying your pigment. This brings more intensity to the colour of the pigment and also helps it to last longer.

Pigment applied with Fix + vs Pigment alone

  4. It can also be used for dampening your beauty blender before foundation/concealer application. This helps prevent losing your foundation due to sponge absorption.

Overall, I must say this product is a great deal and a must have for you beauty lovers. Your product should last you at least 5-6months and I almost forgot to mention it works very well for every skin type.

You have to spray this product atleast 10-12inches away from your face so that you get an equal distribution of the mist been sprayed.

Cotton Candy by SHOMYA

Hello lovers, how’s everyone doing today?

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, mine wasn’t soooo great but hey I’m alive so I am grateful to GOD.

Today I will be reviewing “Shomya’s Cotton Candy Lipstain” which is produced by one of the biggest makeup artist in Lagos SHOMYA.

This is what the package looks like

It comes in this black round compact case with a little mirror in it and it’s neatly packed in a black pack.

It is a light shade of pink with a satin finish. The consistency of this product is amazing and can be worn alone with a nice lip liner and maybe a little lip gloss over it.

I also think it’s the perfect product for creating a pinkish ombre effect on your lips. This product is really thick so you need just a little for your lips which means your product is going to last a while.

This product works for every skin tone as far as you have the perfect lip liner or lipstick to go with it depending on your preference. There are many different ways you can apply this product but here are some pictures of the ombre lips I created:

Mac Beet Lipliner X Shomya’s Cotton Candy

I created this look above first by priming my lips using the Bodyshop lip balm after which I  filled my lips using Mac lipliner in Beet then I applied Shomya’s Cotton Candy in the middle to create that reddish/pinkish ombre lips.

Mac Smoked Purple lipstick X Shomya’s Cotton Candy

I created this look above first by priming my lips using the Bodyshop lip balm after which I applied  Mac Lipstick in the shade Smoked Purple then I applied Shomya’s Cotton Candy in the middle to create this purple/pink ombre lips.

Mac Nightmoth  X Mac FlatOutFabulous X Shomya’s Cotton Candy

I created this look above first by priming my lips using Bodyshop lip balm then I lined my lips using Mac Nightmoth Lip-pencil after which I applied Mac FlatOutFabulous Lipstick then I applied Shomya’s Cotton Candy in the middle to create this ombre lips.

I must say i’m very impressed with this product and I recommend it to you beauty lovers out there. BIG UPS to SHOMYA for this amazing product.

Ben nye banana powder vs Sacha Buttercup

Good day beauty lovers, welcome back to my blog.

Today’s post, we are going to be comparing the two most raved about setting powders, Ben nye banana powder and the Sacha Buttercup setting powder.

Ben Nye Banana Powder is finely milled with a superb texture. It helps set creme makeup for a durable, soft matte finish and also goes on smoothly to minimize the appearance of pores.  It sets foundation for hours and also contains oil-controlling properties to ensure your makeup stays matte and flawless.

Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder is also finely milled with a fantastic texture with just one shade for all skin tones and types. It can be used to highlight, set your concealer or can be applied liberally over the entire face. It absorbs oil, reduces shine and keeps your face matte for hours. It glides onto the skin, blends easily and softens the appearance of fine lines and pores without looking too caked.

Similarity: These powders tend to not clog pores and create a smooth finish over foundation while reducing shine and setting makeup.

Ben nye Banana Powder: it comes in a transparent container with a black cap. It doesn’t come in a pack but it’s neatly sealed at the cap (sorry I do not have a picture showing that).

Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder: 1st of all, I must say, I love the way this product was packed. Although it didn’t come in a pack as well, it came in a transparent round container that had silver details around it with a black round cap.

They both come with a stopper to help control the amount of product you pour out but to be honest I still find myself wasting my product.

I got Ben Nye Banana Powder first and I must tell you, it’s amazing. I couldn’t place my hands on any replacement for it until the rave about the Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder. One thing you lovers should know about me is that I am that person that tries a product, loves it and sticks to it ( you can’t easily get me to try another product). I love to stay in my comfort zone so at first I said to myself I wasn’t going to get it, what is the point, why waste money on another setting powder, blah blah and blah until one faithful day I went for this makeup fair and I saw this product. It got me thinking, should I buy or not ? I was standing there for over 10minutes just thinking. I gave up on my thoughts and I bought it, got home and tried it on and ever since then it has been bye bye to my Ben Nye Banana Powder. Lovers!!! I was late on this product, it is AMAZING .  Please don’t get me wrong the Ben Nye Banana Setting Powder is also a great product but I find Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder calmer, warm and also a great dupe for the Ben Nye Banana Powder.

Ben Nye Banana Powder

Ben Nye Banana Powder

Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder

L-R: Ben Nye Banana Powder vs Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder

From the picture above, you can see that the Ben Nye Banana Powder has a white undertone compared to the Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder that has a yellow undertone. For this reason, when you take a picture using a flash after using your Ben Nye Banana Powder, you find out that the areas where you must have applied it on appear white and ashy unlike the Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder you do not have to worry about looking white after taking a picture with flash or having to look ashy and too baked.

I must say the Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder works very well for my skin-tone and is a must try for you beauty lovers. Btw I still love my Ben Nye Banana Powder but if you ask me I would advice anyone to go for the Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder.

You can check the following websites below to purchase the products

Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder: 6000

Ben Nye Banana Powder: 6000

Depending on where you are getting them from, the prices maybe more or less.

Valentine x Giveaway…

Hello beauty lovers… I am back again this week with a glam look right on time for the season. As we all know Valentine is around the corner so I thought it would be the perfect time to create a simple look you can wear for the day.

P.S: There is a surprise at the end of this post. KEEP READING!!!

Brows: Davies pencil 003 x L.A girl concealer in Fawn

Eyes: For my eyes, I opted for this neutral look which was achieved using 4 eyeshadow

  • Lids: Colorpop TO-A-T
  • Crease: Mac Embark
  • Inner tear-duct: Mac Dazzlelight Veluxe Pearl to open up my eyes
  • Strange from my Naked 3 Palette to highlight my brows

I finished the look using my Amazing Shine lashes in 43

LIPS: I outlined my lips using Mac liner (Chestnut) then applied NYX soft matte cream (SMLC04 London). It looked a bit dry so I applied Mac Lipgloss (Viva Glam V)

The look above is simple, clean and easy to achieve. You can totally have this on all day if you like simple but if you are like me, you can add a little drama for a night look. So this is what I did:

Mac Nightmoth Liner x Mac Ruby woo

I changed my lips using Mac Liner in Nightmoth and Mac Rubywoo Lipstick and I think it’s a perfect twist for the night time. Here are some more pictures I took
